In 3 simple steps:
- REGISTER HERE
- Read – Read a book or research on a topic (refer to the proposed list of 25 themes / topics below; students are free to choose any book / topic of their choice)
- Submit / Upload below 2 files i.e. a & b to RIC website from student dashboard (Upload Files Tab after you Login in to RIC:
a. Doc file: A 2 page summary (PDF or MS Word doc)
– Section#1 / Page1: Summarize the message & learnings in the book / Independent views on the research topic / theme (Minimum 3 Pros & Cons + conclusion) in your own words (*Either book or research not both)
– Section#2 / Page2: Describe and propose a solution to any problem of your choice from “Upload Files tab in students dashboard”
b. Video file: Make a 1 to 2 minutes video about the message & learning from the book / research topic starting with a self-introduction
* Submit both doc & video file at the same time i.e. select 2 files and save by 15 Sep 2021 from students dashboard (Upload Files Section)
*For students in India, Hindi & English language submissions are allowed.

Celebration of 129th Birth anniversary of Dr. S R Ranganathan Father of Indian Library Science
S.R. Ranganathan, in full Shiyali Ramamrita Ranganathan, (born August 9, 1892, Shiyali, Madras, India—died September 27, 1972, Bangalore, Mysore), Indian librarian and educator who was considered the father of library science in India and whose contributions had worldwide influence.
Ranganathan was educated at the Hindu High School in Shiyali, at Madras Christian College (where he took B.A. and M.A. degrees in mathematics in 1913 and 1916), and at Teachers College, Saidapet. In 1917 he joined the faculty of Government College, Mangalore. He subsequently taught at Government College, Coimbatore, in 1920 and at Presidency College, University of Madras, in 1921–23. In 1924 he was appointed first librarian of the University of Madras, and in order to fit himself for the post he traveled to England to study at University College, London. He took up the job at Madras in earnest in 1925 and held it until 1944. From 1945 to 1947 he served as librarian and as professor of library science at Hindu University in Vārānasi (Banaras), and from 1947 to 1954 he taught at the University of Delhi. During 1954–57 he was engaged in research and writing in Zürich. He returned to India in the latter year and served as visiting professor at Vikram University, Ujjain, until 1959. In 1962 he founded and became head of the Documentation Research and Training Centre in Bangalore, with which he remained associated for the rest of his life, and in 1965 he was honoured by the Indian government with the title of national research professor in library science.
Ranganathan’s chief technical contributions to library science were in classification and indexing theory. His Colon Classification (1933) introduced a system that is widely used in research libraries around the world and that has affected the evolution of such older systems as the DeweyLater he devised the technique of “chain indexing” for deriving subject-index entries. Other works of his included Classified Catalogue Code (1934), Prolegomena to Library Classification (1937), Theory of the Library Catalogue (1938), Elements of Library Classification (1945), Classification and International Documentation (1948), Classification and Communication (1951), and Headings and Canons (1955). His Five Laws of Library Science (1931) was widely accepted as a definitive statement of the ideal of library service. He also drafted plans for a national and several state library systems, founded and edited several journals, and was active in numerous professional associations.

NATIONAL ONLINE YOGA QUIZ COMPETITION (21 JUNE-20 JULY )
About Quiz
Introduction:
The online ‘Yoga For Life’ Quiz competition is being organised by NCERT during the pandemic to celebrate International Day of Yoga and to encourage students to participate and create an overall positive environment. The quiz items are designed to make children aware about the importance of yoga in maintaining health, wellness and harmony. Yoga is one of the most powerful drugless system and an effective preventive measure in dealing with all kinds of physical and mental ailments. By participating in the quiz, the students will learn to appreciate that Yoga is an integral part of our cultural heritage and was practiced by our ancient seers and saints for physical fitness, mental alertness and emotional balance. The different asanas and postures in yoga show a close bonding with our environment and our rich biodiversity. Performing and practicing yoga would instill an urge amongst all, to lead a healthy lifestyle with joy and fun as hallmarks.
The ‘Yoga For Life’ Quiz competition is designed to instill among the students awareness and understanding of Yoga, its importance in strengthening human values and helping all, in maintaining cheerful and healthy disposition.
Objectives:
The objectives are to:
- Create awareness regarding yogic practices and motivate children
- Collect additional materials on yoga
- Develop understanding about the advantages of various asana and as preventive measure in addressing various physical and mental ailments
- Motivate students to practice asana on regular basis for overall health and wellness
- Instill human values
The participants:
The quiz is meant for children from classes 6 to 12 of all types of school and managements: Government Schools, Government Aided, CBSE affiliated Schools, KVS, NVS, CISCE, DMS of RIEs, Private schools affiliated to other Boards. However, for popularization of International Yoga day, all others including parents and teachers can also participate in this quiz.

Online certificate of participation for all participants
Timeline:
The quiz will be open for one month starting on 21st June 2021 and will close on 20th July 2021.
Terms and Conditions
- Each question in the quiz will be in the multiple-choice format with only one correct answer.
- Students are required to attempt 20 questions in 10 minutes.
- The quiz questions are prepared in both Hindi and English.
- You are allowed to attempt the quiz only once and only one option will be accepted for a question.
- After responding to a question, click on the “Next Question”, button to go to the next question
- No negative mark is there.
- After attempting questions, final submission should be clicked. No change can be made after final submission.
- Participants have to register on MyGov portal to take part in the quiz. Please provide your details with information like your full name, email id, mobile number, date of birth and gender.
- The decision of NCERT will be final in all matters related to this Quiz
